The Automobile Club of Southern California:
A personal experience...

A few days later, my mother called and said that she has bought a new car in Phoenix, where she is now living and working. She came to visit us in Orange County, however and unfortunately, she had a flat tire a few miles just barely passed the state border on her way driving back to Arizona. She was very scared and alone in the middle of nowhere... at midnight. She waited in the car not knowing what to do then apparently she decided to call 911 for help. An hour later, a nice highway patrolman came to help her change the flat tire. I think he might have advised her of getting AAA roadside assistance or something—because she'd called me right afterward and asked if I could buy her a membership as soon as I can.

That night, I was really worried for my mother. Therefore when Eric Davis, an insurance agent who is my neighbor at AAA (his cubicle is next to mine), asked if I want to buy a Club membership, I said sure why not since my mom was in need of a good and reliable roadside service. I remember that I was joking and negotiating with him to lower the fees of becoming a member of AAA, it's kinda expensive for me even though that I already had an employee's discount.

Eric smiled and said that I was the most difficult client that he has ever sold a membership to. OK, I laughed back at him… it was on a Thursday afternoon. Nonetheless, I requested that if he could send the bill to my home address. Then came Friday, the rain started to pour around 6 p.m. when I got out from work. It was a bit dark so I turned-on the lights on my way driving home. That night, I was very tired… I left my car lights burned all night long.

On the next day, Saturday, I woke up late, changed and got ready to do the usual weekend things with my son. We came out to the car, opened the door with the remote car key—nothing happened. I thought the remote key was out of battery, so I went inside and looked up for help on the internet. I called the Mercedes dealer in Anaheim for advice... but nothing worked. And then, AAA popped into my head. I looked around, found a customer service number for 24-hour roadside assistance on an auto insurance quote that Eric has given to me the day before. I called the number, told the customer service about my problem and that I have just bought my membership but have not paid yet. I also mentioned that I’m working for AAA and I would need my car to go to work. She was very helpful and sent someone out to help me within five to ten minutes.

I jumped up and down like a baby when I saw the AAA towing truck pulled up around the corner. I greeted the driver with joy!!!! He replaced the dead battery on place. He was very friendly though—he even showed me the trick of how he opened the car window with some of his 'in the trade' tools. This friendly man was Carlos from American Tow & Auto Repairs in Garden Grove. You can reach the shop at 714-537-9562. On a personal note, I highly recommend AAA roadside assistance, auto insurance and other services.
