A fast new trend has emerged amongst lovers
in Europe: free websites that promise anonymous sex. No, I’m not talking about
pornography or the illicit relationship sites of the 1990’s, I mean those
meeting sites especially made for men and women who share the same passion in
life: making love or having sex without any inhibitions or attachments. This
type of site is mostly popular amongst married people and single men, but it is
quickly becoming à la mode amongst French single bisexuals or couples who
want to swing and swap with other couples. Whatever your background, education,
class, culture, age, ethnics, or religion....you name it...you'll find it.
One example of this trend is “Contact Avenue”, a
French dating site that boasts two sections: one for singles who want to find
their “l’aime soeur” and a separate section for people who only want to find sex
partners. It’s very easy to become a member of Contact Avenue and guess what?
It’s absolutely free. Only takes minutes to create a profile describing who you
are, what you look like, where you live, the usual. You could spend hours
getting your profile just right, or you could spend hours fabricating complete
lies; or you could just leave all that information blank and remain mysterious.
You can also write your announcement telling other members exactly what you are
looking for in the bedroom.
That’s where the adventure begins.
You can either upload a photo to attract
attention or just keep it anonymous (this is especially popular for the married
people and with good reason), it’s the original “don’t ask, don’t tell”.
Although the site has paid benefits, you can surf as a non-paid member, but the
features promised paid members is hard to resist, including instant messaging,
posting in the open forums and chat rooms, participating in special-events or
scheduling swing parties. If you sign up to be voted Miss or Mister of the
Month, you’re guaranteed more friends.
Of course, I’m being facetious, but these sites are more than a joke in France these days. With lives becoming
increasingly busier and people remaining single longer, internet sex sites have
become a real dating option and the disadvantages have mounted along with the
advantages.
So ladies beware: should you choose to join
one of these sites you will see your inbox overflow with messages from the
male members asking to meet with you for a drink and a one-night sex sans tabous.
Sounds great until you realize that most of the men on these sites are married
or living with someone. In other words they are not available for anything
beyond a new sensation. If you can accept that, fine, but if you think Mr. Right
is lying, it’s most likely that he is.
